Week of August 27-31

Hello 4th Grade Town Center Families! Please see below for class updates and reminders:

Curriculum Night
Thank you to the families that were able to make it to Curriculum Night yesterday! Please click here to view the curriculum night presentation if you missed it and would like to be updated. Contact your homeroom teacher regarding questions or additional information.

Home Access Center
Many parents at Curriculum Night were wondering about how to access the Home Access Center login. Our secretary, Laura Fairchild, has let us know that you are able to log in to this link using the same login you used for summer registration (Infosnap was the previous name). You should be able to try the "forgot password" button if the login is not working. You can also try putting in a help ticket with the link on the site if the login is not working.

Schoology
If you are interested in creating a Parent account for Schoology please see this helpful Google Doc for more information.

Family Pictures
As a reminder, we would like for each fourth grader to bring in a picture of his/her family. You may send in a printed picture, or you may email a copy of a picture to your child's teacher.

No School on Monday, September 3rd due to Labor Day!

A Note From our New Librarian, Ms. Keene-Carlson

Dear Families,

This week your child visited our school library and checked out a book to borrow. To help our students become responsible library patrons and to develop the understanding that we take care of anything that we borrow, please remind your child to practice the good book care habits seen in the graphic below.  You may even want to print a copy of the reminders to post on the fridge or bulletin board at home.

Thank you for your support!

Write a Check began on Thursday, August 30th.

Picture Day will be Thursday, September 6th.

Book Fair begins Monday, September 10th and will go on all week!

Special Friends Day is Friday, September 14th at 12:30pm for 4th grade.

The Annual Fall Family Picnic will also be on Friday, September 14th from 6-8pm.

 .

In Math, we will begin our new unit on decimal place value next week.

In Science, we will continue our Physical Science unit by looking more closely at mixtures and solutions.

In Reading and Language Arts, learners will be able to identify different ways they can respond to reading by practicing different techniques. They will be introduced to the steps of the writing process. We will focus on how the long i can be spelled in different ways (ie, y, igh) and talk about singular/plural nouns.

In Social Studies, we will continue our discussion on the regions of Texas.

If you are interested in seeing pictures and updates from inside our classrooms, please take a minute to visit our Twitter accounts. You may also search the hashtag #TCE4th on Twitter to see posts from all five of us.
