Week of February 18th-22nd

Hello 4th Grade Town Center Families! Please see below for class updates and reminders: 


Volunteers needed for Book Fair! The Spring Book Fair is coming soon! We need parent/community volunteers* to help with Book Fair Preview (Feb 28, March 1 & 4) and run cash registers, tidy/restock shelves, and help customers find things during Book Fair (March 4 - 8).  We also need a couple of volunteers to help with Book Fair Set-up and Tear Down (Feb 27 & March 8). We appreciate community support to continue this exciting tradition and consumer/financial literacy learning experience for our students! Please sign-up for an available time slot at this link:

*Volunteers must have an approved Coppell ISD background check on file before you will be permitted to help with Book Fair.  A new background check is required each school year.  You should submit the form at least a week before volunteering. TCE's 2nd Annual Culture Night
We are excited to have our 2nd annual Culture Night at TCE.  Last year was such a great success with all the dishes you shared with our TCE community.  If you would like to share an appetizer, main dish or dessert on March 28th please sign up below. We will get back with you with more specific details as the event grows near. TCE will provide sample cups to share the dish you bring.  This event was successful because of all of our families' contributions. Thank you for making our school so great!

Youth Soccer Night

Friday, March 1, 2019 is Coppell Cowgirls Soccer Youth Night at Buddy Echols Stadium.
We will have extra posters for the kids to get autographs during and after the match.  Shirts will also be given out.  The youth will make a tunnel for the girls to run through.
The Middle School girls have the opportunity to be announced and walk out with the varsity girls.
Please fill out this form if your child is able to attend.  We will announce your name at the game.
Don't miss out on this fun event!!  Wear your jersey to get in free!



Save the date for fourth grade's field trip to the Fort Worth Science and History Museum on Tuesday, April 16th! The cost for each student is $15.
Please email your homeroom teacher if you are interested in chaperoning! We are able to take four chaperones per class. The cost for each chaperone is $16. 



In Math, we will continue working on division strategies. We will  introduce input/output tables. Please continue to have your learners practice Reflex Math to work on their fact fluency. 

In Science, we will continue our unit on Moon and Earth. Please make sure your learner 
is going out each night to observe the moon phases and record their observations on their Moon Calendar.

In Language Arts, we will continue tackling tricky vocabulary in expository texts. We will continue working on editing and revising questions, and we will continue with the expository writing process. 

In Social Studies, we will discuss how Texas won the Victory at San Jacinto.

Looping Feedback Survey: 1st-5th Grade Parents
The following is a short survey to give TCE Families the opportunity to give their personal feedback regarding your child's looping experience. All questions about looping refer to your child's movement with the same teacher(s) from grades K-1, 2-3, and 4-5. I have provided this forum to allow you to be completely honest in your answers, which will be used to inform our practice and to deduce whether looping has a positive impact on our school community and our learners' academic and emotional success. Thank you in advance for your feedback. The survey will be open for two weeks, closing on February 22nd.


Six Flags Read to Succeed
We sent home reading logs for the Six Flags Read to Succeed Program. These forms will be due February 19th, 2019. If your child completes six hours of reading, they will receive a free ticket to Six Flags!

Week of February 4th-8th

Hello 4th Grade Town Center Families! Please see below for class updates and reminders: 


Valentine's Day Party
Fourth grade will be having our Valentine's Day Party on February 14th from 2:00-3:00pm in the classrooms. You are more than welcome to come and join our party! Learners will need to decorate their Valentine's boxes or bags at home. Learners can decorate their box or bag however they would like! Please make sure that their box or bag will fit inside of their cubby. If your learner decides to bring Valentines, they will need to bring one for every learner in the classroom. Class lists are attached below. In addition, any treats that come with the Valentines will need to be nut-free.

If you purchased a book from Amazon, please have your child bring it to our librarian by Friday, February 8th in order to get his or her copy signed!

In Language Arts, we will continue our nonfiction unit. Learners will tackle tricky vocabulary in nonfiction text. We are continuing to work on expository writing. Moreover, we will continue to learn about prepositions in grammar and irregular plurals in spelling. 

In Social Studies, we will discuss the actions of Texans during the Alamo and the effects of this important battle. We will also read nonfiction articles over the Alamo that will integrate with our nonfiction unit.

Valentine's Day Party

PTO Meeting
Our TCE staff and PTO Board would love to have you all join us for our next PTO meeting. It gives you a chance to give input on school events and hear about all the great things happening at TCE. The following items are on the agenda:
  • Budget Update
  • Upcoming process for parents, staff, and learners to give feedback on the looping process
  • Color Run Spring Fundraiser Updates
  • Survey for parents to give input on future PTO meeting topics that would be informative and timely (Ex. Social emotional issues, Keeping your kids safe while using technology, How to best support your child's learning at home, etc.)
  • Upcoming Movie Night
  • Update on programs
  • Book Fair
  • Teacher Grant Celebrations
