Week of September 24th-28th

Hello 4th Grade Town Center Families! Please see below for class updates and reminders: 

Fall Parent Conferences have started! Please use the link in the email you received to sign up for a conference time.

Texan Town Popcorn
The first session of Texan Town has started. Your learner has the opportunity to purchase a subscription for popcorn, or they can bring 50 cents every Friday. There will be 6 Texan Town days, so the cost for a subscription will be $3.00.

Metrocrest Food Drive
Our TCE student council is partnering with Metrocrest Services to provide food donations for local families and senior citizens. The food drive will run October 9th-19th, and student council will have boxes at the end of each downstairs hallway that leaners can place their donations in.


CGA Writing Competition (Optional)
The Coppell Gifted Association is gearing up for its annual writing competition. Below are a few reminders about the learner portion. 
- FREE for Coppell ISD students to enter.
- Open to any student in grades 4-12.
- Deadline for submissions: December 7, 2018

*The next PTO meeting will be held October 2nd in the TCE Library from 6:00-7:00.

*There will be no school for learners Friday, October 5th and Monday, October 8th.

*Our 1st Spirit Rally is October 12th. 

*Picture Retakes are October 16th. 










In Math, we will continue our unit on addition and subtraction of decimals and whole numbers. We will be learning multiple strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems. 

In Science, we will continue to explore different types of energy. We will focus on building parallel and series circuits.  

In Reading and Language Arts, learners will begin a fictional unit where they will analyze and interpret characters. Learners will also write personal narratives. We will focus on the spelling skill of changing the letter "f" to "v" when adding "es", and comparative and superlative adjectives. 

In Social Studies, we will continue exploring early Texas history and learning about the early Texans.

Week of September 17th-21st

In Math, we finished our unit on decimal place value. We will begin our unit on addition and subtraction involving whole numbers and decimals. 

In Science, we will continue to explore our new topics of force, motion, and energy through hands-on learning experiences. 

In Reading and Language Arts, learners will apply their knowledge of metacognition and their strengths in literacy by completing tasks along with their self-selected book. Learners will develop drafts of a self-selected story to continue toward publishing. We will also learn and apply descriptive adjectives and spelling words related to long u. 

In Social Studies, we will begin exploring early Texas history and learning about the early Texans.

Week of September 10th-14th


Shop the TCE Fall Book Fair Online
Did you not have enough time to stop by our Fall Book Fair? Did we run out of an item that you wanted? Please, shop our Book Fair online until September 20:
Purchases made online will be delivered to the school about two weeks after the Book Fair, and profits will go towards our school library.


*Write a Check began on Thursday, August 30th.

*Fall Parent Conferences will be on Friday, October 5th. We will be sending out a digital sign-up link next week. 









In Math, we will be continuing our unit on decimal place value next week.

In Science, we will be beginning to explore our new topics of force, motion, and energy through hands-on learning experiences. 

In Reading and Language Arts, learners will focus on how to make connections with the books we are reading. We will focus on how the long o can be spelled in different ways (oa and ow) and teach reflexive pronouns. We will also explicitly model the expository writing process.

In Social Studies, we will continue to learn about our four regions of Texas through various Mind Mission activities. We will also celebrate Freedom Week.

Week of September 4th-7th

Please return your blue Student Emergency Card as soon as possible so we can keep these on file!



Write a Check began on Thursday, August 30th.

Book Fair begins Monday, September 10th and will go on all week! Your learner can purchase books before school, during recess, and after school. They may also visit the Book Fair with their special friend on Friday. 

Special Friends Day is Friday, September 14th from 12:30-1:30 for 4th grade.

The Fall Family Picnic will also be on Friday, September 14th from 6:00-8:00 PM and will take place right behind Town Hall! Come out and enjoy food trucks, a Kendra Scott pop-up shop, and family fun for all!








In Math, we will be continuing our unit on decimal place value next week.

In Science, we will be wrapping up our Physical Science unit by participating in some review activities. Be looking for links to Kahoots and Quizlets for review!

In Reading and Language Arts, learners will review essential reading strategies, such as asking questions, visualizing, and activating prior knowledge. We will focus on how the long e can be spelled in different ways (ee and ea) and review singular/plural nouns and proper/common nouns. We will also go through the expository writing process for our beginning of the year writing. 

In Social Studies, we will continue to learn about our four regions of Texas through various Mind Mission activities.
