Week of February 4th-8th

Hello 4th Grade Town Center Families! Please see below for class updates and reminders:

Valentine's Day Party
Fourth grade will be having our Valentine's Day Party on February 14th from 2:00-3:00pm in the classrooms. You are more than welcome to come and join our party! Learners will need to decorate their Valentine's boxes or bags at home. Learners can decorate their box or bag however they would like! Please make sure that their box or bag will fit inside of their cubby. If your learner decides to bring Valentines, they will need to bring one for every learner in the classroom. Class lists are attached below. In addition, any treats that come with the Valentines will need to be nut-free.

Looping Feedback Survey: 1st-5th Grade Parents
The following is a short survey to give TCE Families the opportunity to give their personal feedback regarding your child's looping experience. All questions about looping refer to your child's movement with the same teacher(s) from grades K-1, 2-3, and 4-5. I have provided this forum to allow you to be completely honest in your answers, which will be used to inform our practice and to deduce whether looping has a positive impact on our school community and our learners' academic and emotional success. Thank you in advance for your feedback. The survey will be open for two weeks, closing on February 22nd.

Six Flags Read to Succeed
We sent home reading logs for the Six Flags Read to Succeed Program. These forms will be due February 19th, 2019. If your child completes six hours of reading, they will receive a free ticket to Six Flags!

In Science, we will continue our unit on Moon and Earth. Please make sure your learner
is going out each night to observe the moon phases and record their observations on their Moon Calendar.

In Language Arts, we will continue our nonfiction unit. Learners will tackle tricky vocabulary in nonfiction text. We are continuing to work on expository writing. Moreover, we will continue to learn about prepositions in grammar and irregular plurals in spelling.

In Social Studies, we will discuss the actions of Texans during the Alamo and the effects of this important battle. We will also read nonfiction articles over the Alamo that will integrate with our nonfiction unit.
