Hello everyone! We hope that you all had a great weekend and were able to get out and enjoy the amazing weather. The end of the year is quickly approaching, so please make sure to read all of the updates!

Things happening at TCE:

Curriculum Updates

Math: In math, we will be wrapping up our geometry unit. The learner will be taking their test over geometry on Wednesday.

The learners have been working on review for their STAAR test. They have been reviewing each big concept in Schoology. If you would like to see how they have been performing on their reviews, you can have your learner log into schoology.coppellisd.com.

Science: In science, we will begin our units over Life Science. The learners will start by exploring the life cycle of a plant. They will be planting their own fast growing plants! After they have finished exploring the life cycle of a plant, they will begin to explore the life cycle of insects.

Social Studies: Over the next couple of weeks in Social Studies, we’ll be exploring how the United States grew and changed after the Civil War and Reconstruction.  We’ll dig deeper into the impact of the railroad and oil industries, and then move into the Dust Bowl and Great Depression.

ELAR: In reading, we have just finished reviewing text structure. Ask your son/daughter about the short movie clips we watched in class and how they relate to text structure. This week, we will review the strategies needed to compare and contrast two texts.

In writing, the learners have been practicing different types of writing. Each fourth grader has now experienced being a playwright and a poet!
