Week of December 10-14

Week of December 10-14th

Hello 4th Grade Town Center Families! Please see below for class updates and reminders:

Coppell ISD Winter Break
Our last day of school before break is Friday, December 21st which is an early release day. Please make arrangements to have your child walk home or be picked up by 12:15pm. School resumes Monday, January 7th. If your learner will be missing any school days next week for travel, please let us know ahead of time if possible so that we can get them any necessary materials before they leave for the break.

Reminder: YEARBOOKS ON SALE NOW!
It's that time of year to purchase a yearbook for your child. Yearbook cost was not part of the Trailpass this year, so the only way to purchase is through balfour.com at a cost of $25.

You can also purchase an ad to appear in the yearbook to make this year extra special. Optional ads come in multiple sizes ranging from $15-$120.

We sold out last couple of years, so don't miss out! Yearbook sales end January 18, 2019.

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) Volunteering Opportunities
If you are interested in supporting our school, volunteering with the PTO is a great way to do it. Our board president, Casey Conley, is currently looking for volunteers that would be willing to help out with our school garden, spring book fair, and spring fundraiser. If you are interested in finding out more or signing up to help out, please email her at cconley24@gmail.com. Anyone is welcome!

Six Flags Read to Succeed
We sent home reading logs this week for the Six Flags Read to Succeed Program. These forms will be due February 19th, 2019. If your child completes six hours of reading, they will receive a free ticket to Six Flags!

The Lion's Club
The Lion's Club of Coppell provides holiday food baskets & toys to those in need. If you'd benefit from this assistance, please click the link, complete, & turn into our nurse, Sue Kane, by Dec. 5th. The information will be shared with the Lions Club.

*TCE Giving Tree starts December 3rd and ends the 19th.
*The Jingle Bell Run is rescheduled for Monday and Tuesday of next week. Check with your learner to see which day they have PE.

This week, your learner set up a "Bulb" Digital Portfolio website. This will be a place where they can showcase their learning all year long and throughout their CISD experience. Please feel free to have them show you their online account!

Learners worked on their mentor sentences using Explain Everything!

In Math, we are getting ready to start our Multiplication of Whole Numbers unit. An important prerequisite skill to this unit is the fluency of multiplication facts from 0 to 12. Please feel free to utilize any extra time over the break by encouraging your learner to continue to work towards 100% fluency on the Reflex Math website, as well as practicing with flashcards or any other means. Thank you for your assistance from home!

In Science, we are wrapping up our unit on Earth's Resources and getting ready to begin our Weather unit when we return from break.

In Reading and Language Arts, we will be wrapping up our unit for poetry. We will continue analyzing poetry and finding the meaning behind figurative language.

In Social Studies, we will be finishing our unit over exploration and colonization of Texas. This will lead us into learning about the Texas Revolution.
