Week of August 26-30

Hello 4th Grade Town Center Families! Please see below for class updates and reminders:

Curriculum Night Presentation
Thank you so much for coming out to Curriculum Night yesterday! Please click here to view the curriculum night presentation if you missed it and would like to be updated. Contact your homeroom teacher regarding questions or additional information.

Home Access Center (Parent Portal)
Many parents at Curriculum Night were wondering about how to access the Home Access Center login. Our secretary, Laura Fairchild, has let us know that you are able to log in to this link using the same login you used for summer registration (Infosnap was the previous name). You should be able to try the "forgot password" button if the login is not working. You can also try putting in a help ticket with the link on the site if the login is not working.

Schoology
If you are interested in creating a parent account for Schoology please see this helpful Google Doc for more information.

Google Calendar
You may have noticed that we have a Google Calendar embedded at the top of this blog. We will keep this calendar updated with important dates throughout the year, so please be sure to check it whenever you visit our blog.

No School on Monday, September 2nd due to Labor Day!

Robotics
If your child expressed interest in our after school Robotics club, they should have come home with an application with detailed information. Applications are due on Monday, September 9th to Ms. Rice or Ms. Burks.

Book Fair
Our Fall TCE Book Fair will be September 9th-13th. They are looking for volunteers to help out. If you are interested, please sign up using the link below.

Picture day is Thursday, September 5th.

Book Fair begins Monday, September 9th and will go on all week!

Special Friends Day is Friday, September 13th from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.

In Math, we will wrap up our unit on place value of whole numbers to the billions. Please be on the outlook for an email with a Google presentation to help your learner review for the post assessment on Friday, September 5th.

In Science, we will be learning about the three states of matter. Through the exploration we will study what happens to an ice cube when it is on the hot sidewalk, and then what happens to that puddle as the day goes on. We will continue to use the four physical properties of science.

In Reading and Writing, learners will be able to identify different ways they can respond to reading by practicing different techniques. They will also explore how rubrics and learning progressions help improve skills and assess their progress. We will review spelling words with open syllables.

In Social Studies, we will continue our discussion on the regions of Texas. Using Cornell notes, learners will explore the characteristics of each region of Texas.
