Week of Sept. 9th-13th

Hello 4th Grade Town Center Families! Please see below for class updates and reminders:

Curriculum Night Presentation
Thank you so much for coming out to Curriculum Night yesterday! Please click hereto view the curriculum night presentation if you missed it and would like to be updated. Contact your homeroom teacher regarding questions or additional information.

Home Access Center (Parent Portal)
Many parents at Curriculum Night were wondering about how to access the Home Access Center login. Our secretary, Laura Fairchild, has let us know that you are able to log in to this link using the same login you used for summer registration (Infosnap was the previous name). You should be able to try the "forgot password" button if the login is not working. You can also try putting in a help ticket with the link on the site if the login is not working.

Schoology
If you are interested in creating a parent account for Schoology please see this helpful Google Doc for more information.

Google Calendar
*We were made aware that the Google calendar may have not been viewable for our parents. It is now public; however, it may not be compatible on phones (only on iPads, laptops and/or computers). We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.
You may have noticed that we have a Google Calendar embedded at the top of this blog. We will keep this calendar updated with important dates throughout the year, so please be sure to check it whenever you visit our blog.

Sonic Night Fundraiser is Tuesday, September 24th.

In Writing, we will continue working on personal narratives and revising our writing. We will test for spelling words with VCe (vowel and consonant and e) syllables and will explore all nouns using our mentor sentence.

In Reading, we will continue our lessons on growing ideas about characters. explore the learning progressions and use rubrics to set reading goals. Learners have come home with the learning progressions and self assessment rubrics. Please click here for a digital copy of the learning progressions.

In Math, we will begin looking at place value to the hundredths place.

In Science, students are going to begin exploring measuring tools in science. They will first complete a "crash course" on how to use various measuring tools, such as mass, volume, buoyancy, etc. Then using this knowledge and skills, they will work through measuring stations for a few days.

In TX History, students are continuing to learn about the four regions of Texas through their Cornell Notes. As a way to make connections, students will complete a Hexagonal Thinking activity.
